Dinner of the Week: Pacific Flat Iron Steak with Garlic Broccoli

If something is marinated with pineapples, I’m going to love it.  This is no exception.  Here is an incredibly easy marinade to spruce up flat iron steak for a perfect weeknight meal!

Pacific Flat Iron Steak with Garlic Broccoli

– 1 flat iron steak
– 1 large can of cubed pineapple
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/3 cup soy sauce
– 1 head broccoli
– 2 teaspoons garlic salt
– 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
– Grated Parmesan cheese
At least three hours before dinnertime, you’ll need to prep your marinade.  Mince the garlic and add it to a large Ziploc bag.  Include the honey, soy sauce, and whole can of cubed pineapple and its reserved pineapple juice.  Place the steak into the bag, seal it tight, and store it in the refrigerator.  
That evening, heat up an indoor or outdoor grill and place the steak onto the grill plate.  Pour extra marinade on top as it cooks.  Grill the steak for approximately 5-10 minutes on each side. 
Meanwhile, wash the broccoli and cut it into florets.  

Heat the broccoli on high over a vegetable steamer and a saucepan with 4 cups of water.  Steam the broccoli over the boiling water for at least 6-7 minutes.
Once the steak is done grilling, remove it from heat and place it on a cutting board to rest.
To finish the broccoli, add the garlic salt, white pepper, and Parmesan cheese to taste.
Then, carve the steak in thin, diagonal strips against the grain.

Serve and enjoy!

This was a simple meal that Evan and I adored.  The pineapple and soy sauce truly made the steak tender and sweet. We’ll be making this again, and I think I’ll serve it with grilled pineapple as an additional side.
