Wedding Nostalgia, Part III: Ceremony

Here are links to the first segment and second segment of this week’s wedding series in case you missed them!

Before we knew it, it was time. My dad actually had to come inside our room to tell us that we were late. Apparently the poor guys had been standing out there for a while!

I had held it together until the moment I saw Evan.  Yep, that’s when the tears started.  Happy ones.

His smile, though, helped me relax.

I had hoped that it wouldn’t be too awkward to bring the ceremony indoors because of the sweltering heat, but it worked out just fine!  Best part?  No rearranging of tables and chairs was needed.

Our original plans for the ceremony was to have it held at my Catholic church.  Due to numerous complicated reasons, we opted out of a religious ceremony.  We chose a female officiant, Georgiana Atkins-Havill, who was truly wonderful.  She created a personal, 20-minute ceremony that was both memorable and unique.  I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Due to the weather, these were the only group shots we took.  We didn’t want anyone to pass out during an extended outdoors photoshoot with everyone’s tuxedos and long dresses.

But Evan and I survived.  🙂

And yep, that’s me rocking a wedding dress with flip flops.  I wanted to be comfortable.

  1. It looks like it was a beautiful wedding! You two are a darling couple. I was around your age when I got married. This brought back a lot of nice memories (though my wedding was not nearly as gorgeous).
Following from the Linky Party. Come follow me back. 🙂
