Wedding Nostalgia, Part II: Preparation

If you missed the first segment of this week’s wedding series, you may find it here.

We woke up at dawn to prep for the wedding, and spent the morning and early afternoon getting our hair, makeup, and nails done.  The heat was sweltering.  I’m surprised our hair spray lasted as long as it did!

Meanwhile, Evan arrived to Meadowlark early so that he could, unbeknownst to me, make sure everything was ready for the ceremony.  He helped the DJ set up his table, made sure the wedding singer / pianist had all of her equipment ready to go, talked with the officiant, and made sure that the air conditioning was on full blast.  He also rearranged the tables so that we had a clear “aisle” since both the ceremony and reception were taking place in the same room.  He’s a keeper.

The groomsmen wore red vests with a black dress shirt, while Evan wore a silver vest.  I thought that they looked spiffy.

Around 3:30 p.m., the bridesmaids, my mom, my mother-in-law, and I arrived at Meadowlark.  Me, in true tomboy form, was caught wearing a Nationals’ jersey.

We got dressed and my lovely bridesmaids helped me into my wedding dress.  It was quite an endeavor.

See, this is why all brides need the Emergency Wedding Kit.  You forget things like deodorant.  🙂

Around 4:30 p.m., the guests started to arrive.  Only a half hour before showtime!
